Changes to your routine NHS Dental Checkups

I am writing to let you know about some important changes to the way we provide NHS dental care at DL Dental, which will take effect from 1 September 2026.

Since opening DL Dental, I have been proud to provide both NHS and private dental care to patients. However, due to changing personal circumstances, increasing patient demand, rising practice costs and the ongoing challenges facing NHS dentistry, it has become necessary to adapt how our practice operates so that we can continue to provide high-quality care for all our patients.

From 1 September 2026, I will no longer be carrying out routine NHS examinations. Instead, your routine NHS dental care will be provided by one of our experienced Dental Therapists, Charlotte or Francesca.

Dental Therapists are highly qualified clinicians who are trained to:

• Carry out routine dental examinations
• Diagnose common dental conditions
• Provide preventive care and personalised oral health advice
• Take dental radiographs where required
• Provide hygiene treatment
• Carry out simple fillings and other appropriate NHS treatments

If, during your examination, more complex treatment is required, your Dental Therapist will discuss this with you and arrange for you to be seen by me where appropriate.

This team-based approach allows us to continue delivering high-quality NHS care while ensuring patients are seen promptly by the clinician best placed to provide the treatment they need.

If you wish to remain an NHS patient, you do not need to do anything. We will automatically arrange for your future routine appointments to be with Charlotte or Francesca.

Alternative Option 1 – Join One of Our Practice Membership Plans

If you would prefer me to continue carrying out your routine examinations, you may wish to consider joining one of our affordable private membership plans.

Our membership plans offer a number of benefits, including:

• Spreading the cost of your routine dental care with convenient monthly payments
• Routine examinations and hygiene appointments included
• All clinically necessary routine radiographs included
• Worldwide dental emergency and accident cover
• Dental trauma and oral cancer insurance benefits
• 20% discount on most routine private treatments
• Access to evening appointments where available

Dental Care Plan – £15.50 per month

• Two dental examinations per year
• Two hygiene appointments per year
• All necessary routine radiographs

Premier Care Plan – £22.00 per month

• Two dental examinations per year
• Four hygiene appointments per year
• All necessary routine radiographs

Alternative Option 2 – Private Pay-As-You-Go

If you would prefer not to join a membership plan but would still like me to continue providing all of your dental care, you are welcome to register as a private pay-as-you-go patient.
